Before the risk survey, the insurer of an industrial site asks for a stability justification in FM Global format. Without it the installation stays blocked — sometimes after delivery.
What is at stake
Most of the requests we get on this subject come in as emergencies: the risk survey is booked, the installation is up, and the file does not exist. The same work, done beforehand, blocks nothing.
The loss prevention engineer expects a justification requirement by requirement, in his format. An ordinary design calculation report, even a correct one, does not answer his checklist.
The native file is handed to him: he can reopen the model and re-run the calculations. That is what clears the reservations fastest.
A first pass rarely gives immediate approval. We stay in the loop until they are cleared.
Beforehand, the file steers the design. Afterwards, it justifies what is there — and sometimes it calls for strengthening, which is better found out early.
The engagement
The standard that applies depends on the structure and on the insurer: we confirm which one before starting.
