The conventions behind the calculation

They are written here because a result without its conventions means nothing. On a study, each one is taken again from your site and your equipment.

    What this calculation is not

    • This is not a module layout. Modules are counted on regular rectangles; a lighting column, a tree, a fire hydrant or an inspection chamber will shift a bay on site.
    • The base map is a street map, not an aerial view: parking bays do not appear on it. Draw as closely as you can from what you know of the site; a survey will replace the map, it does not confirm it.
    • No shading is taken into account: no neighbouring building, no tree, and no shadow from one bay onto the next.
    • Nothing is said about the ground. Foundation capacity is settled by a geotechnical survey, and it drives a large share of the cost.
    • Nothing is said about the grid connection: delivery point, trench length, existing substation.
    • Nothing is said about what you will consume . That is what the load curve is about, and that is where the economics are decided.
    • The slope of a carport is set by the structure, not chosen for the sun. At 7° you are far from the annual optimum — that is normal, and it is the trade-off of covering a car park.
